Presenter Bio:

Elena Parsons is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 30 years of experience who began working with cancer patients and caregivers through a hospital based cancer counseling program at the start of her career. Elena was drawn to helping cancer patients, in part due to the extensive cancer history within her family.

In counseling numerous patients who expressed anguish, anxiety, depression and suffering–whether physical or emotional, Elena began offering Guided Imagery experiences during client sessions. Upon hearing positive responses from her clients and seeing their improved moods and affect, she approached hospital administrators about offering a more in-depth structured Guided Imagery treatment program. With the hospital oncologists’ approval, she began to offer Guided Imagery to pre-surgery patients, along with those undergoing radiation and chemotherapy. Elena also created Guided Imagery support groups for patients and caregivers.

After 8 years Elena left this position at the hospital to travel and eventually start a private

practice specializing in counseling clients with cancer and other chronic illnesses.

Elena is a long-time member of Imagery International who is certified in Interactive Guided Imagery (SM) from the Academy for Guided Imagery (AGI). She is also certified as a Holistic Cancer Coach through the Center for the Advancement of Cancer Education, CACE, aka BeatCancer.org.

Currently Elena is enjoying semi-retirement, spending her time between Florida and Oregan. She continues to work with clients part-time through an online therapy platform.
